The law dictates you cannot keep any records from the public in Vermont, though some records are kept secretive to protect those involved. This typically only happens when the case involves a minor who has been abused in some way. Otherwise, the court records are recorded, filed, and made available to the public.

Vermont Court Records Search

The easiest way to locate court records is online. You can do this at the state or county level. Many people try looking up this kind of information on the county level first. This allows them to find local people, but it doesn?t provide any other court records obtained in any other county in Vermont. If you?d like to start here, it?s a simple process. Choose a county and visit the website of the county courthouse. There will be a court records search option for you to utilize, and it?ll be easy to find. Once you find it, you?ll enter just the name of the person you?re interested in searching for.

If you want to perform a more advanced search, you?ll want to look at the state level for the same information. Checking the state level allows you to access the same court records you would at the county level, but one search allows you to find every record from every county in the state. It?s a more comprehensive way to find out if anyone has a criminal or other questionable background in another state.

To do this, you?ll visit the Vermont Courts Online website and perform a court case search. It takes only a few moments, and the search provides you with any information you require. Whether it?s a marriage license or a criminal court case, you?re going to find what you need when you need it most. The search if free, but you can obtain certified copies for a small fee if you are the person listed on the records. If you?re not the person listed, you?ll need to be a child of that person, the parent of that person, or at least the legal guardian of that person.
