Virginia Divorce Records are managed by the Vermont Office of Vital Records, a division of the Vermont Department of Health. The Divorce records are found in the Circuit Court for the county where the divorce case was heard. Divorce records are kept by the Office of Vital Records for 50 years after an event takes place. During this restriction period, divorce records can be ordered by siblings, spouses, parents and registrants.
The divorce documents can be requested through mail, express delivery through the VitalChek site, the Virginia DMV, and by visiting in person. The turnaround for receiving your certified divorce copy if you apply by mail is estimated to be between a week to two weeks. People are urged that they allow the authorities sufficient time for delivery of the documents.

When ordering the copy, you will be handed an application which you must complete and pay the standard fee of $12 for processing the request. The Division of Vital Records is open on most Saturdays between 8 in the morning till noon. Anybody who orders a certified copy of the divorce decree must provide a form proving their identity.

Virginia DMV Divorce Certificates
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles issues certified copies of divorce certificates along with other public records, such as death certificates, birth certificates and marriage certificates. These are available for purchase at a full-service DMV. You can avail the same service at Virginia DMV 2 Go which are mobile offices or by visiting the DMV customer service center.

The Virginia Circuit Court handles all family matters, including divorce cases. On top of this, the Circuit Court also hears cases that are filed at the domestic relations court and the general district court.
