Washington Federal Courts – Locations, Hours, Phone Numbers

Washington Federal Courts have 2 Districts. One is the Eastern District Court; the other is the Western Court.

All cases from the Eastern District are appealed to the Court of Appeals of the Ninth Circuit, save for patent claims and any cases against the nation’s government; these are taken to appeal to the Federal Circuit. The United States Attorney’s office is what represents the state in all criminal and civil cases in court.

The federal court for the Eastern district has jurisdiction in counties including  Yakima, Whitman, Walla Walla, Stevens, Spokane, Pend Oreille, Okanogan, Lincoln, Klickitat, Kittitas, Grant, Garfield, Franklin, Ferry, Douglas, Columbia, Chelan, Benton, Asotin, and Adams.

The western district federal court of Washington appeals all cases to the Court of Appeals for Ninth Circuit. The only two exceptions for this are claims for patents and any cases against the government of United States, both of which are handled by the Federal Circuit. The United States Attorney’s office represents the state in cases.

The federal court for the western district of Washington has jurisdiction in counties including Wahkiakum, Thurston, Snohomish, Skamania, Skagit, San Juan, Pierce, Pacific, Mason, Lewis, Kitsap, King, Jefferson, Island, Grays Harbor, Cowlitz, Clark, and Clallam. The jurisdiction is spread out in cities of Tacoma, Everett, Vancouver, Olympia, Bellevue, Seattle, Bremerton, and Bellingham.
