This department has all birth certificates for the state; however, death and marriage records available here are limited in number. Records for marriages before 1970 and deaths that occurred before 1960 can only be accessed from the county in which they occurred. All requests for South Dakota divorce records through mail require a complete application to be filled and signed from the notary along with a copy of your photo ID. The divorce record request must be accompanied with a fee of $15 which is required to process the request. It should be noted that the state does not accept credit card payments.
