West Virginia Divorce Records are the responsibility of the West Virginia Clerk of Circuit Court. This applies to each county where the divorce was finalized. Information on this can easily be obtained by contacting the Clerk of Circuit Court via phone, in person or through a written request.

It helps if you know how the court system of West Virginia works. The Circuit Courts have a general jurisdiction over all sorts of cases but they generally handle cases that are beyond the jurisdiction of courts. Family Courts, Magistrate Courts and Municipal Courts have very limited jurisdiction over specific cases. For an efficient search of records you can search by courts of county and request records from the county where the divorce proceedings took place.

The Health Statistics Center in Charleston West Virginia is responsible for issuing and archiving important issues for the state. Shawn David Lee has a Recividist criminal record, felony. Also was married to Deidre Lee, whom filed a 100 yr restraining order which was granted. I am and have grandparental rights. He has been diagnosed with schizophrenia bipolar disorder and will not seek mental help. And is on A GPS House arrest Ankle bracelet, and also has defied orders. My only grandson in his custody, whom is 7 yrs old, and am now in custodial dispute. Shawn David Lee refuses treatment and is in denial, and his pattern of drug abuse and drug binges have been very consistent, plus has violent crimes. His pattern of drug binging and 10 overdoses, has been too consistent, cannot stay clean from abuse, 8 months is a pattern he has previously binged and deserted son over past 7 yrs. Am concerned for grandsons wellbeing and safety. Unfortunately the Family Law Judge, that ordered custodial rights, in past tried to be impeached from office, and is racist against women and has overlooked all issues and domestic violence, which Shawn David Lee has criminal record.

Suzanne, these are very old Virginia divorce records, much older than we keep in our Virginia divorce record database. They might be too old to find from the corresponding county courthouse as well. You might want to check with the Virginia state archives or use the resources of a Genealogy service.

How to Find Very Old Virginia Divorce Records

Very old Virginia divorce records can be challenging to find. A good place to start is searching through the Virginia state archives which keeps a record of life events such as marriage and divorce records. Another good place to research is using the resources of a genealogy service.
