How To Perform A Nevada Warrant Search

Background checks can uncover active arrest warrants, bench warrant or fugitive warrants. Finding out if you have a warrant in Nevada can often at the worst times, it might be when going through a hiring process with a new employer, traveling and being arrested by TSA at the airport, or being pulled over for a routine traffic stop. This being said, online public record websites offer an alternative, allowing individuals to uncover possible warrants ahead of a background check. Performing a Nevada warrant search can help out a lot with this. The process is simple, first enter your full name, or the person of interest, into the search form and hit enter. The public record site will do the rest. Once your results display you will be able to see any active Nevada warrants, criminal charges, court records and criminal history. This is all public information that anyone can access with a smartphone or computer.

Nevada Warrants: Understanding the Basics and Implications

In Nevada a warrant is a way for the criminal justice system to hold people accountable court-issued directives that commands law enforcement to perform specific actions or are court orders to appear in court. These actions can include arrest and detainment, typically relating to criminal proceedings, or summons that are sent out to people to appear before a judge. Understanding the different types of warrants and their implications are important to recognize and respect. Since Nevada warrants are considered public record, anyone can access and view them online.

Types of Warrants in Nevada

  • Nevada Arrest Warrants: Nevada arrest warrants are a common place in this state. Clark county for example has one of the highest warrant issuing rates in the country. NV warrants are issued when the courts have evidence that a person has committed a crime and needs to be brought to justice. This issuance commands Nevada law enforcement to arrest and detain that person until their arraignment in court.
  • Nevada Bench Warrants: Nevada bench warrants are the second most common type issued in the state. They are a summons to court, and not a criminal allegation like an arrest warrant. They can however result in someone’s arrest if they do not comply with this court order. The most common reasons these are issued in Nevada are for failure to comply with court orders, or failure to make a court appearance.
  • Nevada Civil Warrants: Nevada civil warrants are issued when someone is extremely delinquent on their loan payment or financial obligations. This can lead to a person’s bank account being tapped, their wages garnished, or even their property and assets being seized. It can also be used to evict someone that fails to pay their rent for an extended period of time.
  • Nevada Capias Warrants: A capias warrant means that someone is called to court that has not appeared, as directed by the judge, for an ongoing court case. Perhaps they fled or decided not to show up, but no matter the reason, this type of warrant means that person will be arrested and detained and brought to court, as ordered by a judge.

Las Vegas Warrant Search

Las Vegas, which is often called the entertainment capital of the world, is the most populous city in Nevada and falls within Clark County’s jurisdiction. Searching for outstanding warrants in Las Vegas is important for those who need to learn about their legal standing, as well as tourists that get into trouble when visiting Las Vegas. Here are some good options to run a Las Vegas arrest warrant search and bench warrant search.

  • To begin your search, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is the primary agency you’d want to consult. Their official website often provides an online list of fugitives, and you can call in to run a Las Vegas warrant search. You can also make an online request to access criminal records or run a background check for a fee.
  • The city of Las Vegas also offers their own warrant search service. You will need to contact them directly or use their online assistance operator to help you with your inquiry. Because there are so many warrants issued and quashed in the city on a daily basis, they do not post them online. Instead, you will need to inquire with them directly via phone or chat to search Las Vegas active warrants.
  • The Las Vegas municipal court also has online resources for you to check up on active LV warrants. You can go to their site and check the status of one or call in directly to make your inquiry. This is a good resource to lookup Las Vegas bench warrants.

Clark County Warrant Search

Running a Clark County warrant search is important for residents of this community area who wish to find out if they or someone they know has an outstanding warrant. These searches can be used for personal, professional, or legal reasons. A good place to start your search is the Clark County District Attorney Office, they have a list of numbers you can call in to inquire about active Clark County warrants for the different cities within the county, as well as an online request form for criminal records.

Do I Have a Warrant in Nevada?

This is good question to ask if you have done something wrong, or missed a court appearance. There are some easy ways to find out anonymously. To find out if you have an active Nevada warrant you might want to first ask yourself if it is criminal related or because you missed your court date or jury duty. A criminal warrant, or arrest warrant, is when you are charged with a crime, or violated a serious court order or perhaps a parole order. A bench warrant is less complicated and usually does not end in someone’s arrest. To find out if you have either, you can use the resources of a public record website. Most of these online resources offer anonymous searching so no one will know you are looking up this information. Just enter your name into the site and begin your search. Make sure that when the results are populated that you verify you are looking at the correct warrant record as many people in the state of Nevada have the same first and last name. Then once you find out if you do have one, your next step might be to contact criminal defense attorney to find out what your options are.

Typically bench warrants are not extraditable offenses. That means that there would most likely not be a bench warrant in NV that is transferred from California. To be certain you can always call an attorney and request some additional information about this. That being said, we do not show an active Nevada warrant for her in our Nevada criminal record database.

I’ve moved and haven’t forwarded my mail. The one time I was arrested, released and asked to be in court, the clerk said that they would send a letter stating if The courts were going to proceed with any charges. What does that mean and how do I find out I have a warrant? If so, I need to get this resolved as soon as possible.

Your best bet to mitigate this situation is to hire a lawyer and/or contact the courts to resolve this situation. We do not have an affiliation with law enforcement or any state courts so you will want to obtain some legal assistance to resolve your situation. Best of luck

Thank you for sharing about your old Nevada traffic citation Marly. It’s good for other people to hear about these types of situations so they can avoid circumstances like having a warrant issued for lack of payment of a fine.

  45. Marly says:

I found out the hard way (in court on another matter) that I had an 11 year old traffic warrant. During that time, I had gotten a Sheriff’s Card for work which you can’t get with active warrants.
I had to do 25 days contempt for this old ticket.
Little about our legal system is fair these days, but this was wrong.

  46. squarryadministrator says:

    Jorge,

We can certainly check our Nevada warrant record database for you but we will need your full name and the Nevada county where you suspect you might have a warrant.
