New York Driving Records Request Information

If you need to file a New York driving records request, you probably assume you’ll have to track down a New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office and do it in person. Fortunately, there are now options to find New York records from the comfort of your own home. Here’s a few ways to do this.

You can also obtain what’s called a driving record abstract at any New York DMV office. This will not contain as much information as their “lifetime” driving records and you will have to pay a fee even if they cannot find a record.

Luckily, there’s a much easier way to make a New York driving records request. By searching through a public online database, you can quickly find multiple New York driving records without the inconvenience of filling out multiple forms and paying fees. All you need to start searching is the person’s first and last name and their state. From there, you can further refine the search by age or address. And you can do all of this without leaving your home. This is because driving records are considered legal and public information by the Freedom of Information Act of 1966 (FOIA).
